We at the Lair are hard at work on Vainglory for Android (among many other things!), and we're getting a LOT of questions about our Android beta program. Here is a quick FAQ to answer the most commonly asked questions!

How do i update my client?

If you're in the beta, and having issues updating to the latest client. Log into your Google Plus beta community, and reinstall from the install link there.  You'll be prompted to either install or update your client. Note, updating from Google Play will not work.

HOW DO I participate in the BETA?

We are running a closed beta for specific supported devices. To apply for the beta for the currently supported devices, 'ask' to join the Google+ groups below. We are reviewing and adding new testers everyday.

Join the Android Beta. (We will be updating this list as supported devices change).

I applied for the beta - when do I get the invite?

Thank you for applying for the beta! We have moved to the next phase of our beta test. We will be testing and gating based on devices. Beta test will continue to be conducted out of Google+ Communities above.

What version of Android do I need to play the Vainglory Android beta?

Vainglory requires Android 4.4.2 Kitkat or newer.

What do I do if I get an error that the game does not exist at the download link?

  • Make sure your device is a supported device for the beta and you're in the right Googe+ community for your device.
  • Make sure the account used to apply for the Beta G+ Community is the same email associated with your Google Play account. This is how Google Play determines your eligibility for beta.
  • Try browsing to the game download link from a computer web browser and initiating install remotely by choosing your device from the ‘Install’ dropdown.

What does it mean if my device is greyed out when trying to install via a computer web browser?

Devices that are greyed out are either not on Android 4.4.2 or higher, or are not approved compatible devices for use with Vainglory.

Why is do I get an error that the game is not available in my Country?

Because Vainglory offers in-game purchases, it is not available to countries that the US has trade sanctions against, and countries that Google does not do business with.

Why do I get an error that ‘License Failed’ when trying to start the game?

Only approved beta players that are signed into the Google account associated with their Google+ account can play the game.

How will I know if I was selected for the Android Beta?

Users with approved compatible devices will have received a Google+ community invite or have been approved for device groups after directly applying.

When will I receive my beta invite?

We have moved past the invite phase. If you have not received an invite to join beta, but still want to join visit us here

Is my account permanent after the Beta?

Yes, your account will persist in the live environment even after Beta.

The Google Play store will show the error “Your device is not compatible”

Where and how do I report bugs?

Post bugs and other feedback in the Google+ Vainglory Beta community that you were invited into. Always be sure to post which device you are using and which version of Android you are on. Posting screenshots also makes bug fixing go a lot faster.

Is there a list of known bugs anywhere?

Known issues are listed in the ‘About’ section of the Google+ Vainglory Beta community page.

Will I receive an email if I am not selected?

You will only receive an email when selected for the Beta program.

What will a player who is trying to play when they are not invited experience?

Devices not logged in to an approved Google account will get a license fail message when trying to start the game.

Will I be able to play with iOS players?

Yes, Vainglory is seamlessly cross platform on all supported devices.

When will Vainglory come out of Beta and launch on Android?

We are evaluating Beta feedback and learning more about device support every day. Once we have determined our launch device support and solved key bugs we will set ourselves a launch date. Thanks for the patience and for the help in making the game as good as it can be before launch!
